PROGRESS IN SOUND - SINCE 1996
28 YEARS OF IMPULSIVE SOUND-NEUTRAL MONITORS ‚MADE IN GERMANY“
KSdigital has been developing and producing studio monitors and mastering speakers for 25 years. All developments are carried out “in house” in order to be able to guarantee our demands on the sound and quality of the speakers.
The entire development and production including quality management takes place at the Saarbrücken location. Our loudspeakers mainly use chassis that were developed for and with us in collaboration with various manufacturers. This is the only way to maintain our high standards of precision, accuracy and consistency in production. The electronics for signal processing and amping are also developed and manufactured in-house, as are the algorithms and design of the digital signal processor.
KSdigital stands for the highest sound performance and precision in every product class.
… progress in sound technologies
KSdigital presented the world’s first digitally equalized studio monitor for the first time to the public at the Tonmeistertagung in 1996. The overall goal of developing a linear, time-correct loudspeaker is to transmit the power, dynamics and emotion in the music into the control room. If possible, the sound engineer can work with a sound image that makes musical decisions easier and can be reliably translated via headphones or the listener’s home system. Since then, we have developed the product portfolio for various applications, including a coaxial series, the C-Reference Line, which, in 2017, offers phase-linear point sound sources with the KSD-FIRTEC processor, but also classic studio monitors for all mid- and mainfield applications. Since 2022 we have been offering immersive speaker arrays from Dolby Atmos setups to 32K multichannel installations
Museums, research or even multi-channel sound reinforcement situations.
Many KSD innovations work in our products, whether in digital signal processing or in radiation and sound transducer elements, which have resulted in patents and patent applications. A trademark of KSD is the FIRTEC(TM) technology, which equalizes in every KSD loudspeaker, another KSD development transfers the special radiation technology of line array technology into the studio monitor.
Johannes Siegler is the Managing Director of KSdigital GmbH. He studied electrical engineering with a focus on audio technology at Saarland University. Alongside his studies, J. Siegler operated a professional recording studio for 13 years, specializing in jazz, rock/pop, and new music. The studio’s unique approach involved capturing instrument recordings through microphones, rather than using pre-recorded sounds. This allowed for extensive testing of digital studio technology and loudspeaker construction. J. Siegler also undertook commissioned developments for various clients, including Pinguin-Hamburg, Ariel Coorperation (a US-based DSP development company), and the experimental studio of Südwestrundfunk in Freiburg.
In 1996, J. Siegler founded KSDigital and spearheaded the development of the monitor family.
André Hammerschmidt is another Managing Director at KSdigital GmbH. He has been with the company since 2007 and has been involved in all aspects of production, quality management, purchasing, production management, and development. In 2022, he became the third managing director at KSdigital.
Co-founder Ing. Dieter Klein has been developing and building active loudspeakers for sound reinforcement and the MI sector since 1975. He previously worked with KS-Beschallungstechnik and has contributed to numerous theaters such as the Semperoper and Schauspiel Dresden, Kammerspiele Munich, Alte Oper Frankfurt, and functional buildings like the Reichstag in Berlin and the Olympic Stadium in Moscow.
